I have had the opportunity to revisit the major towns of this area Barrow, Whitehaven and Workington. On the face of it they are industrial run down settlements. But actually each is rich in industrial history and each demonstrates a different coastline, from the long flat sandy beaches. And wetlands of Walney Island to the Cliffs and harbour of Whitehaven to the industrial docklands of Workington. Today it rained torrentially the rivers have broken their banks in places and the roads have minor flooding. So ideal day for Chrisrmas shopping.
Featured is Workington shopping arcade somewhat unusual architecturally. It is a recent development and boos for this steel making town.
