Cross Country skiing and Zen
19 September 2012
Zen is said to be a Buddhust doctrine that says that the path to enlightenment is through meditation and intuitive insight.
And so it was when I embarked with a friend on an overnight X country ski trip to Bob Lee Hut on Saturday, in a virtual white out.
It gave me an opportunity to strip the landscape down to its bare elements and so I focused on negative space and composition.
In short the trip follows a route from the main base area, down towards a creek and the Meadow Lee Hut and then up onto Bob Lee Hut which sits on an exposed shelf that affords view over the entire Clutha basin ( in fine weather).
In the interests of time in the aftermath of a laptop crash I will keep the text short and illustrate in
pictures this week.
